Register your Singapore address with ICA (legal requirement)

Singapore law requires you to register your address with ICA within 14 days of any move. Free, 1 minute via MyICA app. Skip and you risk fines.

Source: ICA — e-Notification of Address (eNOA) · verified 2026-04-06

Why this matters

Update Singapore's national identity register with your residential address so all government correspondence (tax letters, MOM notices, election materials for citizens) reaches you.

Every pass holder in Singapore must keep their address current with ICA. When you first arrive, your EP/DP card is issued with whatever address your employer or you submitted at application time — usually a hotel or temporary address. Once you sign your real lease, you have 14 days to update it. This is the same e-Notification of Address (eNOA) system citizens and PRs use. SingPass makes it a 5-minute online task.

If you skip it: Failure to update is an offence under the National Registration Act, with fines up to SGD 3,000. More practically: you miss IRAS tax letters, MOM EP renewal notices, summons, and bank correspondence — which can lead to tax penalties, missed renewals, or even bounced cheques.

When to do it

Earliest

The day you sign your lease and have a move-in date confirmed within 14 days

Optimal

Within 1-3 days of moving into your long-term home

Deadline

28 days from change of address (National Registration Act). Practically: do it within 14 days to be safe — many bank/utility forms ask for an ICA-registered address.

If late: Offence under the National Registration Act with fines up to SGD 3,000. Mail from IRAS, MOM, banks may go to your old hotel/temp address and bounce.

How to do it

For the applicant

  1. 1

Sign your tenancy agreement and confirm your move-in date

  2. 2

Wait until you have actually moved in (or have keys + confirmed move date within 14 days)

ICA wants your CURRENT residential address, not a future one

  3. 3

Open https://www.ica.gov.sg/reside/PR/e_service/eNOA on phone or computer

    https://www.ica.gov.sg/reside/PR/e_service/eNOA
  4. 4

Click "Login" and authenticate with SingPass (face recognition or password + 2FA)

  5. 5

Select "Update Address" — your current address on file is shown

  6. 6

Enter your new postal code — system auto-fills the building name and street

Singapore postal codes uniquely identify buildings. If autofill fails, double-check the postal code on your tenancy agreement.

  7. 7

Add your unit number (e.g. #12-34) and any block number

  8. 8

Enter the date you moved in (or will move in) — must be within 14 days of submission

  9. 9

Review and submit. You receive an instant on-screen acknowledgement and an email confirmation.

No physical card update needed — your EP card stays the same; only the database record changes.

  10. 10

Save the confirmation email — useful as proof of address for bank/utility setup

Common mistakes

  • · Using your office or employer address instead of your home — illegal and triggers issues if MOM checks
  • · Updating before you have actually moved in — system rejects future dates >14 days
  • · Forgetting to update again when you move to a new lease — every move requires a new submission
  • · Each family member trying to use the EP holder's SingPass — every adult must use their own

What you need

  • · singpass — Required to log in to ICA e-Service
  • · tenancy_agreement — Source of truth for the new address — keep a digital copy ready

For the spouse

  1. 1

Confirm you have SingPass — DP holders qualify for SingPass after collecting their DP card

  2. 2

Follow the same eNOA flow as the EP holder, using YOUR SingPass and YOUR FIN number

    https://www.ica.gov.sg/reside/PR/e_service/eNOA

Common mistakes

  • · Assuming the EP holder's update covers the family — each FIN is updated separately

What you need

  • · singpass — DP holders are eligible for SingPass — set it up first if you haven't

For the child

  1. 1

Log in with parent's SingPass to ICA eNOA

  2. 2

Select "Update Address for Family Member" or use the multi-person update function

  3. 3

Enter child's FIN; address auto-applies same details

What you need

  • · child_fin — Need the child's FIN number (from their DP/Student Pass card)

Cost

SGD 0 (free)
